Buddha's Day Parade 2015

Image
I know its late now, but 2 weeks ago when I was in Seoul with Flora, someone invited us to go to the parade with them.  I was keen and it was amazing.  I felt so privileged to be there and we were blessed by the presence of a natural tour guide who shared all sorts of info that I usually want to know throughout the parade.  here are the pics I took.  these are all Buddhists from Korea and many other countries here to worship or show support of Buddha. I really was overcome with gratitude for the privilege of being present and learning about another culture and religion. Despite what you might think, I was not stalking the young police officer who appears to be the centre of most of my photos!! The parade would go for about 2 1/2 hours (we didn't stay for the whole thing) and was much more spectacular when the light went down as each person was holding a lantern, but I didn't have enough battery in my phone to keep photographing :-( ...

I've been to 10 countries!!!

In my whole life that is, and I didn't count Taiwan or Tahiti where I didn't leave the airport.  But I did count Hong Kong as separate from China.   NZ, Australia, Singapore,  USA, Fiji, Vanuatu, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan And here I am in Japan this past weekend, my 10th.  Only 186 to go.   so I  left home at 5.30am with plenty of time to catch a taxi to the bus station  as i knew the local buses didn't run that early (although it was very light and seemed like midday).  However i didn't find a taxi.  I started walking but after about 10m i realised i wasn't going to get a taxi and I'd need to run.  It takes me half an hour to walk normally but my bus would leave at 6am and i was dragging my carry on.   I was getting really nervous but I made it to the bus with 3m to spare!  Blessings! It took 2 1/2 hours to get to incheon international airport (pronounce in-chun) then my plane left at 10.15. Osaka Kansai A...

Missionary sisters

Image
I didn't anticipate having so much contact with the missionaries while I was here, and it's been a great blessing.  I just wanted to share some photos that have been taken at different times.     This is sister Collyer and her family who visited to take her home.  Melissa on the right is also a n English teacher here in Cheongju. These ones are my Seoul Sisters or soul sisters, who I met in the subway after the temple one day.  We had lunch together another time I went up, but one of them had transferred so there was a new one to meet! I love sister missionaries!  And the elders aren't bad either.
